New Flowmaster

Got a Flowmaster 40 series with a tundra exhaust tip today. Took a cell phone vid of the noise and came out like crap so all I have is one picture right now. I'll see if I can't borrow a digital camera.

Nice!

I am going to be getting a new exahust soon as well. I just can't decide between the 40 and 50 floemaster.

What does the 40 sound like inside?

Nice looking truck!

The vid does work. It sounds a little "Civc" like. Is that just the vid? I am looking for something that has a nice DEEP sound. I will also be going dual on mine so that might make it a little lower.

I do like the volume that you get out of it, just can't tell tone very well on a vid.

i'm sure if you add a resonator (don't know what size) it would surely make it a ton deeper but it would also take out some of the gurgle which could quite possibly make it sound like a ricer... I personally didn't really think it sounded much like a civic... Do you think you can get a drive-by at a pretty low speed and then another one accelerating? That will give us a clear picture of what it really sounds like (because the microphone is picking up the sound straight out of the muffler tip). Sounds good though

I agree a drive by would be a lot better. Now it didn't sound real civc but it did kinda have that sound to it but that could very easily be the vid since most digital cams don't have great sound. And you are right a resonater could always fix that.

And yeah what size piping and delta or super?

it's a super and its fitted onto stock piping. the video picks up more rice than their actually is. actually i think its the fact that it can't pick up the low frequency it produces, which leaves it with that sound.

here's the good thing though:

first engine mods were the deckplate/isr mods which were done simultaneously. obvious hp gains but the auditory gains were best heard at wot or higher rpms. since then i've been prone to stepping on the gas to hear that awesome growl it lets out after about 3500 rpms. with the flow (which drowns out the mods now) it sounds best at a low rpm which prompts me to keep a light foot. all in all its balanced out my driving habits and ultimately saving me my engine and some gas money along the way woohoo!!

the next couple weeks are going to be heaven for me:

next thursday i'm having the ome 3" suspension installed. the last week of may i'm getting a set of 285/75s for m'baby! so excited i could be my pants. oh, and on a seperate note, halo 3 beta comes out may 16th so that will make the time go by faster. (you know what i'm talking about all you closet dorks! hahaha)

oh, and i'm getting a trd windshield decal in the mail in a day or so, that's at least another 50+ horsepower

Why would you get the basic model?? For just an extra $9.95 you could have upgraded to the pro model and got 100+ HP (although it is really about 90 but they have to hype it...)

Cheap skate...

its cool sometime down the road i'll be getting the badge for the rear which i hear is the equivalent of dropping an sc inside......and then some. after this sticker goes on i may have to switch from my original idea of bfg ats and go with some slick pirellis

For sure, those ATS's will not even be close to enough traction for you to even stay on the road! LOL

serious question though? with the 3" ome coils on my runner and probably not too serious of flexing going on in the next few months should i go with 285/75s or 305/70s?

Well the 305/70's will not get as good MPG but for looks i like the 305's hands down (as do 90% of plp on here).

Really it comes down to what you will be doing with her. If you will just be runnin around town then go with the 285/75 as they will get better MPG and with the high $$$ of gas that could be a house payment.

If you have $$$ to spend then go with the 305's they look BAD!

That exhaust sounds pretty nice, a drive by would be sweet.

MY YT sticker gives me like 50hp!!

I run 285 MT's on stockies, and at only 2.5 in the front..minors triming and shaving but thats cus of the wheel backspacing

i wish i could justify a reason for getting the 305s, but until some extended shocks are in my inventory no major wheeling will apply. i agree, they look TOO sick to not get. is the gas drainage that considerable between the two?

Having never had a pair myself i have to go off second hand accounts.

But i would think a 1 - 2 MPG drop would be about right from what i have heard.

i'd go with the 285's...I mean 305s are just unpractical if you ask me and it seems like you don't really need them...Plus personally the 305s would look a little too chunky (i like to have some space between the tire and the wheel well) but thats just me...either would look good you just need to balance out hte pros and cons and see whichever makes more sense to get...

yeah as much as i don't want to admit it this is true. i was on the phone with the discount tire guy in atlanta and asking for price quote for 285/75 bfg ats. installed/warranty would 830ish but he said he could get me a better deal on nitto terragrapplers in the same size. i'm leaning towards bfg but wanted to see if anyone had comments on the contrary.

also, my friend just bought a set of 31x1150 bfg ats at sams club for 530 i believe. anyone gone this route?
