New 88 4Runner purchaser with a couple questions
Hello everyone, Just bought a 1988 V6 SR5 4Runner and have a couple of questions.
1) I bought the Toyota Service Manual on eBay. It was published by Toyota in 1990. It never mentions the V6 engine or the R150F transmission. Everything is 22R4. There isn't any mention of a V6 supplement. Was there one? Which is the better aftermarket book, Haynes or Chiltons?
2) There isn't any rust anywhere on it besides the top's side window molding. The Service Manual shows removing the side window and removing 7 screws to remove the molding. Is there any shortcuts?
3) The gear on the rear window motor has some serious notches in some of its teeth. Is there a way to change just that gear? The motor works fine. Will 2nd gen motors work? left or right power window motors?
Thanks for your help

i replaced the motor in my 86 gate, iirc, it was a rear pass side pwr window motor from a corolla. it bolted directly in and was less expensive! search around and read some of the write-ups others have posted regarding this swap, its not too difficult. take your time and check for loose connections, frayed wires etc and fix them up while you are in there. good luck, post up your results with some pix of your new rig.
