New 4Runner Owner
Hello to all. I am new to yotatech forums and just bought a
4runner. Here is the "hot poop" on the 4runner:
1997 4runner Color: Desert Dune 78,000 miles
cd Player, Sun Roof, Rear Locker, Hitch, very clean.
I can't wait to start modifications. This forum has already
been a great help to me.

welcome,, and i agree with the rest, it takes CASH, lol, but ive owned ford, honda, toyota ( p-u ) chevy and dodge, and without a doubt, the 4RUNNER is by far the best of them all.

Welcome to the forum. Since you just plunked down a bunch of ching for your Runner, it might make sense to do a few "low buck" mods first. Start with the deckplate mod and maybe the elbow removal (search to find...) Corey might have some extra TRD exhaust bearings for ya...

thanks for the welcomes
Thanks for the welcome greetings. I hope to begin some things this summer and then add a few as time goes on.
I just sold a '95 Toyota pickup and bought the 4runner. When we go into the mountains no one seemed to want to ride in the
bed of the pickup so now I can haul folks in the 4runner.
This isn't a mod but first I will change the timing belt, and move to some of the easy, "low buck" mods suggested. (PuterPutter likes low bucks!)
I look forward to learning from all in the forum.

Good luck, be wared, I had my Runer for a year, bone stock, and when I joied here, within 2 months I had it lifted and it's never stopped yet.

Well I have warned the wife to get a second job so I can
start spending. She wasn't very enthused with that suggestion.
I paid 15K for the 4runner. but it had options i wanted and I had
just sold my truck so I had the bux.

hey all,
well we got our runner bout a year ago, i looked for months, and even looked online, to get the one that i wanted, the hood scoop, rear air, rear lockers, they are very hard to find here in kc, and about the only things we have done so far, is a fire extingisher, cb, clinometer, and just yesterday put new shoes on her, (bf goodrich dueler mt), k&n filter, but im looking at that deckplate mod, and a lift, the lift is what im worried about, i want a good one, but not alot of money to spend, also looking into a grill gaurd with a winch, its gonna take time time as im NOT related to Bill Gates, lol, but this site is great, lots of info., keep it up, new guys like me, need all the help we can get.. Thankx all

Welcome to the forum, Puter.
I agree wholeheartedly about upgrading to the amsoil air filter.
Also, you'll want to take a look at HBoss's E-Locker Write-up to see how to make it functional all of the time. Another easy, low buck mod.
Hope you enjoy your stay.
Cheers!

Sounds like you found a very nice truck. If you have a 5 speed then you have about the most awesome 3rd gen in my opinion. Later models have longer bumpers (more to smash) and with a locker all you need is a supercharger. Just kidding - that will be a few months down the road I'm sure.
