New 4 Runner or Tacoma DC

I have been mostly looking at the 4 runners. I also see today that toyota is offering them at invoice and 1.9 percent financing.

Well today I saw a Tacoma Double Cab. Now im going to head that way and check them out. My question for you guys is, which one woudl be better towing a boat or small trailer. I kind of like the Idea of the truck just to through stuff in the back.
(getting married in april and new home should be finished in march)... So that will be handy with all my new projects coming around the house. I have not bought the boat but that will be in the short future. It will just be an open bow run about/ski boat type. 18-22feet max.

Can either handle it. Im probally less then 5 miles to the boat ramp also.

sounds like you already like the DC more. The truck bed can come in real handy with Home Depot runs! It depends on if you need a truck bed or wagon.

they are coming out with an all-new Tacoma in '05 so you should be able to get great deals now on the '04's.

Towing a boat, the 4R will be better since it has more power but it sounds like a light duty affair for a short trip. The Tacoma v6 can easily handle that.

Also consider the Tacoma is alot cheaper so maybe that is a consideration since you will be spending alot on the new house.

4runner has a v8 makes it easier to tow. But if its short distance the tacoma won't have too much problems either.

Or you could just get a Tundra, and get the best of both worlds.

The Tacoma I have sat in before was a just the ext cab. But to me the doors felt really chinsy. Like they are super thin. Mabye its just me. Im also A bigger guy 6'4" 225lbs. I guess I should just go check them out tomarrow or this week.

I think you should wait for the 05 Tacoma if you really want a midsize pu or go for the 4R or Tundra Xtra cab.

Think a truck is what you need for those excursions. Tacoma V6 or Tundra. Don't know how comfortable a third fisherman would be in the Tacoma but good for 2 guys ......

I was in somewhat of the same situation except I went with a 4Runner over a Taco last year. Now I'm trying to sell the Runner and get a DC taco or Tundra Access Cab. Having a bed to haul stuff is nice. I've been on many trips to home depot where I wished I had a bed.

Have you thought about the new Tundra double cab? My 00 has the same engine as the Tacoma double cab and it pulls my 17' Boston Whaler loaded with 100 gallons of gas, ice, gear no problem. If I had the to choose now I would go with the tundra double cab(tons of room), 2nd choice 4Runner.
