New to 4-Runner not to Toyota

Good evening guys, I sold my awesome 95 pickup. Planning to purchase a 00-02 4 runner . Yes 4x4! still not sure Sr5 or Limited, what I need to know is which options are good like VSC or TRAC , and which models came with the e-locker.
Additionally I would like some input on suspension lifts, Im very familiar with what was available for my 95 pickup but was unhappy with the one I ended up with. So your inforamtion is invaluble, Downey seems to have a nice setup and from what I can find OME only makes a replacement suspension sys. and not a lift. Would like to clear 33x10.50, substantial amount of equipment, and all kinds of other things.

Thanks
Aaron

lets see if i can help...

2000 was the last year to offer the e-locker, after that, the 01 and 02 models came with VSC and TRAC.

OMEs suspension does lift, about 2.5-3 inches front and back, and along with a 1" body lift (http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/BodyLiftKit.shtml), would be perfect for clearing 33s

good luck!

There's another thread in this forum about disabling the VSC/TRAC system. It's called the AndyMod. I have done it and it works very effectively!

Well lets put it this way I've seen the VSC feature in action, and I wasn't impressed. Now the same feature on the Mercedes ML is bad ass.

Deffinately go for a 00. Last year of the elocker, and 01/02 had VSC/Trac (bad). I think 00 might have been the last year for the 5-Speed Manual as well.

OK so how will I know, whether or not the 00 runner is equipped with the locker other than being there in person to check it out? I look them up on www.cars.com then call the dealership that have what I'm interested in and go from there most of the dealers are non-toyota and have no clue what the hell they have. I was also told to look for the sport model but what dictates whether or not thats the case? Will those be the ones with the hood scoop?

yeah sport or highlander models will have a hood scoop. the easiest way to figure out if it has a locker is to look for/ask them to look for a switch to the left of the steering wheel (next to the dimmer) that says RR DIFF LOCK (orange letters).

look at this pic http://home.off-road.com/~kemanuel/4.../P7100565r.jpg

(borrowed from paddlenbike)

What button might be located to the right of the dimmer on the 01's would that be the VSC?
