Need your opinion...tires.
Called a local tire store. Explained how I would like another set of Nitto's, but about my bad treadewear experience. He said he's seen high-priced Michelins last forever. Then he can turn around, sell the exact same tire and the go 1/4 as long. We got to talking and he said he is an authorized Nitto dealer. (The placed I got them before wasn't. They had to special order them. Maybe their supplier doesn't get the best cut.) He said he's never had a problem with the ones he sells. So he said because I'm going to college and such soon he'd cut me a deal..."Ok I'm listening." $610 gets 4 TG's, free balance and rotation for the life of the tire, tax, and out the door. Keep in mind this is for 285/75/16. Should I bite?

4wheelparts.com right now has a "free shipping" deal + 10% off of those same tires. The sale price is $127.79, which means $511.16 shipped (pending if they charge you tax or not). Then take it to your local tire shop to mount & balance. It should come out cheaper than $610, but not by too much. Plus, no lifetime balance.
So, it's your call. Save a few $$ and get it from 4wheelparts, or go local.
Personally, I'd just go local. Any problems, they're right in your town and not in another state. Plus, the free balancing will come in handy.

I've read mixed reviews on the TG's longevity. Some get 20K, while others get 40k and more. Treadwear is determined by the rubber compound of the tire, the way the vehicle is driven and the type of vehicle the tires are mounted on. I've heard that TG's have a softer rubber compound, so over 50K might not be possible. On our Runners, they should easliy do 40k, unless they're constantly being abused.
As far as where to get them, I'd go with a local dealer. Even though you might save a few dollars going on line, you won't get anyone to stand behind the tires if there's a problem. And, $610 isn't too bad out the door with everything you mentioned he'd do.

Discount charges a little over $700 out the door for 265/75s so you got one great deal. I'm jealous.
I still figure I should get another 15-20 out of mine which will put me at right under 45k on mine which I'm content with since that's 4 winters for me.

Got another quote from a local garage shop I'm gonna be working at in January. I'm good friends with the owner. He quoted me $558 on the Nitto TG's (285/75/16) out the door! I was floored and asked him to repeat the price...I'm going with his price.

"Michelin LTX" or Michelin "Cross Terrains" I have nothing but good things to say about these tires and they are high quality and will last you at least 75,000 Miles and are "Made in the good old USA..
FYI: the X terrains are not really a "trail tire" yet I drive 25K to 35K Miles a year and my 4 runner is my work truck. The MICHELIN Cross Terrains ride smooth like a radial and are Great in the snow rain and of coarse the "ice" get it "icerunner" (....hehe)
