Need upgrade advice for 03 SR5
I'm a newbie here and am looking for some advice on upgrading my factory stereo setup. I didn't get the JBL option. Ultimately I'd like to get an in-dash CD changer but I'm willing to wait a little while b/4 I upgrade my head unit. Primarily I'd like to upgrade my speakers and maybe the amplifier. I've done speaker & head unit upgrades in the past using Crutchfields but they don't have anything for the 03's yet. I plan to budget $400-500 for speakers and $200-250 for a multi-channel amplifier. Any advice on speaker and amplifier choices welcome as well as low profile location for amplifier.

he'll definitely be able to help you out on this department as he's already changed his head unit, and front speakers!

my upgrade
As my first upgrade I went with a sub and amp - very easy and painless to hook up.
It makes a huge improvement to the non-JBL system.
I had been debating on adding a new head unit and or new speakers, but more than one dealer told me the greatest improvement I could get for the smallest amount of money was a sub.
Initially I went with a sub and amp and I swapped out the rear speakers as I had gotton some cheap. I thought the head unit was sufficient for now as well as the front speakers. The rear speakers were the first ones to distort when I turned up the volume.
Sounded pretty good like that, but I added a small amp last week to the front speakers so I could get a bit more volume.
