Lightbulb Need Specifics on Power Window Switches

I have a 95 4Runner and want to know how the power window switches are different than on the gen 3 4Runners. I'm thinking of doing an electrical mod, but need some info first.

On the gen 2, at least mine, only the driver's window switch is backlit. Strangely, if you pull the assembly out and then dismantle it, you discover all the circuits are in place to back lite all the window switches. The leds and resistors were just not installed.

The switch covers would need to be altered, otherwise you won't see the light. If the newer ones were lit, I can harvest the covers on mine or possibly use the entire assembly.

I'm going to swap the green led for a purple, but wanted to go all out if possible.

Any pics or info?

Cheers,
DrA>

Doesn't anyone have a gen 3 4Runner that can tell me how many of the window switches are lit?

Only my drivers window switch is illuminated. I did just buy a switch assembly off of Ebay that has both front window illuminated and both with one touch down.

I was wrong. Only the drivers switch is illuminated on the one I bought. The rockers themselves can be swapped around. If you had two drivers window rockers, you could just snap one in place of the passenger one and add a bulb. I ordered the panel from Ebay hoping to do a swap that would give me auto up/down on both front windows. Can't be done this way. Completely different wiring.

I was really excited about you having multiple lit switches. You have to install another LED and the load resistor as well. For the other light positions, you need to figure out how to get the springs which connect the lower circuit assembly to the small cards in the top of the housing.

I have a 2000 4runner and only the driver side is lit as well. I was thinking this same thing when i had to take it off a little while back but didn't want to take the time to mess with it.

The limited is the model that cam with the both front windows auto-down and up feature (i love this! my old car didn't have power windows at all!)

Talking

Well I ended up modding my own switches. I now have a fully lit window switch assembly. I soldered in blue leds and made windows with lens for rockers.

As far as I know there isn't another like it. If anyone has modded there's or knows of a stock one with lights, I'd love to know.

Cheers,
