I've got KYB's on all 4 corners of my '91.I've dumped the rear Rancho add-a-leafs and had the leave springs re-arched. I'm 29 with 2 bad disks in my lower back and now the ride killing me. Never really noticed the ride before, but getting old sucks and now I'm feeling it. Is there a shock that is slightly softer than the KYB's, but stiffer than Rancho's? I've blown out 2 of the RS9000 series on seperate occasions so those are out.Any and suggustions and opinions(sp?) are appreciated.

I hear you about the KYB's. I had them on my '90 and I may have well simply u-bolted the old shocks in 1 position. There were serious tight!!!

I presently have Bilstein's on my '00 and, although not as bone jarring as the KYB's, they are on the stiff side. I know there's been tons of discussions on shocks and hopefully someone that has experience with other brands will chime in.

the tokico trek master r/t shocks are quite good. much smoother than the bilsteins all around. the bilsteins are definitely better off-road, but the trek masters will be more comfortable for a daily driver. i had both on a '90 xtracab.

Thank you for the replies. I'll be looking into both the Bilsteins and the tokico shocks this weekend.

I've got the Rancho adjustable shocks. I like them compared to the Bilsteins I was running before.

Bilsteins are firmer than stock shocks, this give you better handling but you feel some bumps more.

If I were bigger into offroading I would go for adjustable, but I just put in the Bilsteins and really like them. Went out in to the woods yesterday and driving over irregular, rooty, bumpy terrain between trees it felt spectacular. No experience with severe flex or crawling conditions yet. I am entirely happy with them. Have had a big smile on my face since tuesday...
