i just got off the phone with them. the guy said they come with instructions to DIY to save money vs. taking it to get programed. he said any locksmith can then cut the key. i will give them a shot and let you guys know how they go. 99% feedback and close to 4k auctions...pretty reputible to me. ill put the oem key on the wall so i dont loose that one!

will do. on the link above, there is even feedback from a someone who owns a 99 4runner. i have the utmost confidence with the keys, just have to trust the guy cutting them!
the guy said the programming involved pressing brake pedals, turning key on..acc..off..on, ect., ect. so my neighbors will think i am looney turning the key on/off smashing the break pedal, opening this door, that door all in a timed manner! CANT WAIT!

I fail to see the auto makers reasoning for the "chip". Once in the car it makes little difference. It only takes less than a minute to clip the right 2 wires (I won't say which ones) measure the resitance and twist a resistor in line. Sure it won't be gone in sixty seconds but it will be gone in under 180 seconds. If it's gonna be taken, it's gonna be taken. JMO

I went with this guy
http://search.stores.ebay.com/MyKeyl...757029QQsofpZ0
He also sends info on programing and info on how to deprogram all old keys and program only new keys as the computer will only store 3 keys. Bought mine a few days ago, cut for free at wal-mart. Took only 5 minnutes to do. I would reccomend.
He dosen't have any 4runners listed but it is the same as the camry

some local locksmith will do both cutting and programming. www.yellowpages.com is your source.
no, theres no such things as disarming the old keys. you can have as many chipped key as you want.

Key Programing
these procedures work for
4runner 99-02 (not on all 02)
Avalon 98-02
Camry 98-02
Highlander 01-04
Land Cruiser 98-02
Sequoia 01-02
Sienna 98-03
Solara 98-03
You must have the original key or a non-valet duplicate already programed for this to work.
Adding a new key
1.all windows up
2.stand outside 4runner
3.lock unlock door with OLD KEY
4.get in and close door
5.start engine, turn off engine, remove OLD KEY
6.insert OLD KEY into ignition (do NOT turn)
7.within 35 seconds press gas pedal 5x, press brake 6x, remove OLD KEY
8.within 10 seconds insert NEW KEYinto ignition, do NOT turn
9.press gas pedal once
10.wait up to 80 seconds for security light to stop flashing
11. remove NEW KEY from ignition
12.press on brake
13. wait 15 seconds for computer to reset
14. test NEW KEY by attempting to start 4runner
Deleting all keys except yours
1.Windows up doors shut
2.From outside lock and unlock doors
3.Enter 4runner close doors
4.Start engine, turn off, remove key
5.Insert key into ignition, do NOT turn key
6.Within 15 seconds press on gas pedal 6x
7.Within 20 seconds press brake 7x, security light will flash
8.Within 10 seconds remove key
9.Now all keys stored are removed except the key you performed these steps with.

its not that simple. youre speaking of the older american vehicles that utilize VATS and PATS immobilizers.
btw, the above programming has to be done in one motion or else youll confuse yourself and erase all keys. got he scared last time. this programming will also work on f150s 97-02.

well if thats the case, that would put every mobile security installers out of business. im not gonna go into detail about it cause its kinda of lengthy, but believe me, you can as much keys as you want.

If you do not have the old keys and wish to erase them (I did because I bought mine localy and they claimed there was only one key since they bought it) or if it fails to complete installation it means the memory is full. I will post the instructions later, right now I am going to pick up my friend from base, He's comming home from Iraq Today!!! And he said the first thing he's doing is getting a runner!

I think a locksmith is your best bet, I dont have chipped keys for my T100 thankfully and since they are so small I keep one in my wallet! 93' Camry was the same way.
THe programming procedure does work, but it does look really funny.
