Need real time help please

I have a deal on a 97 rear axle from a Tacoma. i need to know if it will fit in place of a 91 rear axle? What needs to be done.

If it will not fit how about the third members? can I swap those out?

Thanks for an answers I may get

was it from a TRD tacoma? what kind of 91? runner? pickup? if its a tacoma TRD rear axle, it will be wider than the 91 axle so youre probably going to need to relocate the spring perches. if its a runner, then you'll have to fab up some brackets to accept coils & upper/lower links. the elocker 3rd can be retrofitted into the 91 housing with some mods. have a search for 'elocker swap'.

if its the non trd tacoma axle, i wouldnt bother. different 3rd than the standard TRD/V6/turbo 8". supposedly stronger, but not worth the effort of swaping IMO.

Here is what I have, an 85 4Runner with a 86 axle that has the Elocker in it. The 97 is from a truck that was non TRD but with a V6. he added a ARB and 5.29's to it. I need to know if I can swap out thirds or the whole axle? Or nothing at all.

Gotcha.

The non-TRD third is going to be 8.4" and will not be a direct swap.

PM me, though, about gearing.
