Need input-4Runner quit on me
Well, here is the sum of what happened, and keep in mind, I'm not a mechanic, so go easy on me.
Vehicle: 1998 4Runner, 2WD/Automatic, 6cyl. 160,000.
Situation: Runner was making some rather "throaty" noises down in the exhaust/cat converter area all morning. Truck didnt run too odd or anything, just a little light on throttle response and the loud exhaust noise.
All of a sudden i came around a corner and she just shut down on me. No CEL lights or anything. Had somebody try and jump me, but no luck there. I did put a new battery in about 2 months ago. Looked under the truck, and noticed what I believe to be an oxygen sensor dangling from its wires....there were two bolts missing where the sensor should be mounted to the exhaust. Would this cause the truck to not start though, or cause the truck to just die like it did???
THank you for any advice, or suggestions.......

Well, I'm not a mechanic either. But I would say, yes, the O2 sensor coming lose is your problem. I'm surprised you didn't get a code. Bolt it back up and see if that gets going again.

When you say it wont start, will it even crank with the starter? Reason I ask, I am wondering when you took the corner, did the positive terminal slide into the fender. Seen that happen.
