Need help hooking up trailer lights (I.D.ing wires)!!!

I have a 1995 4Runner (2 gen) and need to get my trailer lights hooked up. What I need help with is on what color wires on the 4Runner are for “Brakes” and “Left and Right Blinker”.

Thanks,

i found this via google (pdf doc in the first link; big list of googlicious stuff in the second). it may not be exact, so test it with a DVM. another person in the vehicle would speed things along... somewhere in here you should be able to find your answer.

Just pull the rear lights out and you should have all that you need. I did mine a couple of years ago and I don't recall looking in a manual or anything like that. I think what we did was to pull the rear lights out and pull the plastic panels inside loose so we could get to the wires in behind. Tracing the wires to the light bulbs wasn't hard to do. I know I also had to get some sort of box to make the Japanese vehicle work with the standard light setup on my boat trailer. The auto parts stores have them. Another possibility is to get one of the trailer light setups that just plug into the truck. I am not sure how available they are for a 95 but they may be.

I need to go one step further. The trailer for my bigger boat has electric brakes. I bought a controller but I have yet to put it in. Hopefully, this spring I will get that in as well.

Talking

Thanks a lot for the help. I figured it out. It took me some time but I finally traced the wires on the Runner.

Thanks again,
