Need advice! Friend is selling 4runner!!!! Should I?

My friend just bought a 92 4x4 automatic Sr5 4 runner, that was gonna be auctioned off because some dude that got arrested left it on property owned by some land developer. All he paid was the back Tax of like 250 + new registration of 150. The thing only ran a couple times and it apparently Has either a cracked head/Manifold or Bad engine. Everything else mechanically is in good shape, good tranny, water pump, radiator, body etc... He doesn't want the hassle of putting money into it to fix it up, so he wants me to take it off his hands for $300. My thought is to pay that and either part it out, or sell the whole thing to some wheelers/ fabs of toyota who are always posting in my area that they'll buy used 4x4 toyotas running or not. What do yall think? Good investment or not?

Cars are just about never good investments unless you don't put any money into them. Nevertheless, go for it, have some fun, you don't have much to lose.

Well he's actually only selling it to me this cheap cause im a friend of his. Im really hoping to flip it and make a little profit on it, cause unfortunetly Im not to mechanically inclined. I know people in my area will either hit me up for parts or want the whole thing for like $700-$1000 if i post on craigslist. Thats what im hoping. Its still a good deal for someone who like to build into em, i wish i could but, hopefully i can get a little profit for it? Thanks

Im just looking to flip it for a little more cash. Thing is he is lazy and wont take the time to craigslist it or anything, and i will. I wonder how much i could get for it. Reasonably priced of course! ha!
