NAPA Freeway Blaster horns

These are also made by Fiam I believe, but I'd have to check mine.
I have got a few requests in the past (and today) for the part #s for these horns which are quite loud.

Local auto stores that carry NAPA parts should stock these, but quite often as is the case the part #s they have don't coincide when you try and input the # on NAPA's website.

Freeway Blasters
High pitch = 7301057
Low pitch = 7301056
They are rated @132 DB.

I only have one vid of these, and it does not do the horns justice.
http://64.127.247.125/tando/horn.mpg 447 kb.

They are a lot louder than the appear.
I also have mine hooked up via a 30 amp relay which is the same as the ones I use for my 3 sets of lights.

The stock horns are wired so that when you push the button on your steering wheel, it does not apply + voltage, but completes the ground.
Toyota uses a weird system for a lot of stuff.

When I first hooked these up a few years ago, I about dropped a load
As soon as the horns body touched the frame, off they went, hence the reason for wiring these through a relay instead.

I am using the stock blue power wire, and it goes to the relay, then the + wire from the relay goes to the horns, and the horns themselves are grounded to the frame via wires.

Not sure if you have to use this method on a newer rig, but with an older one like mine, the relay system works best, and also provides better current to the horns.

Corey,

Man, thanks for reminding me! Though my Hella Supertones are loud enough, they are a bit "European-ish" for me. Those honkers of yours "fit" the 4runner.

How much did you pay for the horns? Do you have any pics of them mounted?

Hi Bob, the only pic I have is this one.
http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/tando/e...ash/clean1.jpg

You can see the custom bracket I had to fab up for the drivers side one.
The passenger side horn fitted right up to the stock location, and that is where the blue power wire was I tapped in to route it to the relay.

I'll have to get better horn pics sometime and update my page with the info and part #s.

I can't remember the price, but the store just quoted me $18.88 each.
I think I paid a little less a few years back, but maybe only a buck.

So roughly $40 for the pair after tax.
Cheaper than the Hella Supertones.

Corey,

Thanks for the pic. I can see where the blue wire is running to and I think I know where you mounted them.

Question: are they trumpet shaped horns? And you pointed them downwards, right?

I'll see if I can dig up the info.
Oh, I mispelled it earlier also.
It's Fiamm, with two "m"

I think these might be like mine, it's been a few years, and I can't really remember if they say NAPA on them, or Fiamm.

Can I just add the low note to the truck and use the oem as the high?
