and i loved it.

i went up to mammoth on tueday, and at the condo we were staying at, the road up to it was really icy/snowy. so i just turned on the 4wd (AWD i suppose without center lock ) and i had no traction problems.

and the MTR tires were great. it snowed a few inches on tuesday, and i had no problem at all. chains...ha!

so yeah, i'm glad to have such a reliable, hassle free, surefooted, go anywhere vehicle. and i finally got to play in the snow with it a little bit, good times.

this is what i came to on tuesday morning....

kind of a hassle getting all the snow off the windshield and such, but not a big deal.

BTW, the snow at mammoth is awesome! i love it there, everytime. two of the best snowboarding days in a long time.

Well the last few days in the portland metro area have been an adventure. First it got damn cold, like 16 degrees cold. Then snowed 6 inches, THEN rained so another half inch of solid ice on top. Now I'm not complaining, I got around just fine with street tires and 4wd but after a day and people using chains the roads got so damn bumpy. I had to drive 3 miles on Ice washboards. Bloody hell that sucked. I was happy to get back out into the sticks where the roads were just packed snow and smooth as silk. Right now its warming up but it'll be a while before all this stuff is gone.

i have to say, our first snow (18"+) was what made me truely love this truck. i loved it plenty before, but wow... it was just incredibly smooth and tough. people passed up parking spots for days after because they had snow piles in them... i just plowed on over. perfection.

Glad you like you ride--------it's looks very cool set up how you have it(functional). Hear me on this -If you have 4WD/AWD 4runner with VSC.

Use your AWD on snowy roads at speed. Heres why if you use 4WD (center lock activated) the 4r will disable the VSC (vehicle skid control) , and trust me that feature can , and will help you in a very big way if it is activated. The other bonus is that when conditions go from dry pavement to ice to snow back to ice to dry etc you will not have to worry about binding the drivetrain like if you were in 4WD. In my opinion the AWD & VSC features are something worth having if you travel in snow.
I personally drive in snow all the time , and I have two years experience with the AWD/VSC setup. I will try to mess with it on purpose to see what will happen , and belive me it is alot harder to lose control with the VSC ON!
Of course dont let the bells & whistles make you drive any faster than the conditions warrant.
