I don't really have an answer for you, but from reading other posts on the factory alarm, they just plain suck.

The best alarm to get is an aftermarket one.
I run a Python as seen in some of the past alarm posts here, and I am very happy with it.

Mark (midiwall) on the forum has found a really good alarm that a do it your selfer can install, and he is very happy with it.

Is this the TDS alarm?

If you are having problems with it, just start the car and flip the switch under the driver side dash. It should be down by your left foot. That will turn it off if I remember correctly.

it is the stock toyota alarm, not sure on the modle but I will look for the switch but don't think it is there. I think I am goin to just diconect the alarm, has anyone done this or know how? I realy don't like to just start messing with eltronic stuff unless I know what I am getting my self into. Some alarms have some pretty complicated wiring, so I don't what to just start messing with it. And the chilton book I have doesn't have any digrams on alarm systems. Any advice or a wiring digram would be awsome.
Thanks TJ

I've had an Alpine alarm now for 11 years and I've never had a problem with it.
