put the timing belt on as the book says, cranked the engine over by hand twice around. each time the belt goes around it ends up one knotch back, so 2 revolutions 2 teeth off... the timing marks on the oil pump and tbelt sprockets line up perfect. this is my first time setting the timing on a 3vze so i was a little worried about the belt ending up one tooth back per revolution... so is the timing on or am i missing something?

i know some can help with this... the book just doesn't have the details i need, if i were to go with mu instinct and the book i would think that my timing is right on...

ya i'll be here all day... i think i have it right as after two rev's the marks on the pulley's and tbelt cover always line up, just the marks on the tbelt don't which i suppose doesn't really matter... this just isn't something i want to mess up, known to many people that have gotten into piston valve clearance issues this way, don't want to give myself that chance

the marks on the belt arent that big of a deal....

Just make sure that the crank gear lines up with it's mark and that the 2 cam gears always line up with their spots.

Dont forget on the belt the 'R cam' is for the engine's right side cam, not your right as you face the engine....

Posting pics of the gears you need to line up...

Heres a pic of the crank gear, note the notch on the top of the gear and the mark on the oil pump that it must line up with.

the belt is going to be off after revolutions, the marks are not evenly spaced

I stopped by last night but got no answer at the door. Looked at the truck, but the marks weren't in "set up" position (looked OK, just rotated past the index)
