My dad found a set of seats and a dashboard out of a 95 runner that I put in my 94. He got all 4 seats and the dash for $100, maybe even $75. The drivers seat is the one with the lower lumbar support, the adjusting seat cushion and the sides that you can adjust (tighten up). Coming from a Jeep Cherokee before this 4runner, I'd never had a seat with all the supports and I love it. I dont know if that's really what you want, but I'd say if you looked long enough at local yards you could find one cheap and I wouldn't think it would be hard to install, not much fabbing I mean. Good luck.

For some ideas on 'transplants' known to have been done with pickups, check my tech article over at CustomTacos (Tech: Tech Articles: Interior...).

Not long ago here at YT we seemed to arrive at a consensus that the multi-adjustable 'SR5' or 'Sport' buckets from pickups / 4R's in the late 80's and early 90's were about the most comfortable OEM truck buckets Toyota ever offered.

Good makes for seats include: Volvo, Saab, and anything German.

If you go for a transplant of OEM seats, figure out the mounting first. With sufficient fabbing / frankensteining you can get most anything in there. It's the mounting - not the seats themselves - that'll be the headache...

I've got OEM SR5 seats w/ all the adjustments...very comfortable seats and I'm 6'2" 225 lbs. I've seen Prelude, Celica, BMW and all kinds of seats in a 1st gen...surely you can find something for that ailing back...or you just need to buy you a nice low RAV4 and just sell the trail rig...

not sure how much they are, but Mstercarft seats are designed with a support hammock that cradles the body. I am sure they aren't cheap, but maybe affordable. They look so comfy, especially for a trail rig.

i might just have to look for an sr5 to sit in and try. my seats are non sr5 and the driver seat is broke so a metal bar hits you on the tailbone all the time. a rock would be more comfy

I'm w/ Dudebud and vote for stock SR5 buckets too. The ones in my '85 truck are very comfortable. A buddy of mine spent a lot of $$ on Corbeau bucket seats and wish he had my seats instead.

Easiest question ever man! 1986-1992 Supra Seats, best seats ever, 8 way power, and 4 way Lumbar support!! i paid 20 bucks for the 2...if you go to pick-n-pull they're like 35 per seat (not a bad price for cumfy seats) they're more cumfy than any of the other toyota seats ive ever sat in! The stock seatbelts on your runner work in the seats as well.

I've got the sr5 seats and they are definately pretty nice...even on long trips such as spokane or oregon and durin wheelin they are nice and comfy...only problem I've seen is the lower bolsters tend to flatten out as they're unbraced (just foam) expecially in an older truck (mines a 91 and they're almost flat) just from getting in and out...those 3rd gen supra seats are def nice too, my dad had an 86 supra and they were pretty damn comfy...just a little tough to get into when its that low...Good luck man!

How about the new Tacoma seats. A neighbor of mine just purchased a 2005 Tacoma, and the seats on that 4door truck were pretty nice.

Yo wifesaysimadumbass, What's your email addy? I got some pics and a little ditty of my seat mod that makes the stock seats a whole lot more comfy. Still not all that but there's only so much we can do with our crappy stock seats. I've done this to all 3, buckets, 60/40, and full bench so it can be done no matter what you got and it's super cheap.
At the minimum it's just an option fer ya till you can affor better seats.

or if you'd like, mail me at krawlinacoma@cox.net

The seats in my Tacoma don't do the back any favors, in fact, they pretty much suck.

I've got my eye on a pair from a saab 9-3 at a nearby yard. If anybody has some spare cash I'll buy them, install them, take pics and tell you how they feel....(someone buy the clubs I have for sale, that will almost cover it!).
