My rig she is dieing on me...

I need ya'lls opinion on what to do. My cars about dead and we have put a lot of money into it already and dont know if I should put anymore. Heres the story... *dun dun dun*

Im home on leave for 2 weeks and my car has broken down. my fan belt had broken. Okay so easy enough fix. I grab my car expert friend and we start tearing down my car and replacing the belts. We get everything replaced and start it back up, it starts squeeling. And come to find the fan idler housing isnt turning. It had seized and is busted. We tear it down some more and it appears the timing belt hasnt been changed in the 210k miles the car has on it. Also the water pump needs to be replaced as well. So that brings the list of broken things on my rig up to...

Fan Idler Housing ($700)
Timing Belt, Tensioners, and Water Pump ($630)
CV Boot (No Idea)
Sunroof (No Idea)
Driver Side Mirror ($140)
Radiator (No Idea)

And some other misc stuff. Ive already spent about $1500 on repairs to her already, and I was hoping to sell it in 3months when I get home from AIT and get a 3rd Gen.

So what would you guys do in my situation, Is it worth it to put the money into it? I dont need it to get around, im leaving for 3months in 2 days, and we have already tore it down to the timing belt? Is it going to hurt it to much if we let it sit for 3months as its obviously not driveable?

Make a call on whether to fix her. It's almost always worth it to fix up a 4runner, but there are exceptions, and the time constraints on students/fathers/phlebotomists make for a more interesting time deciding. If you're not going to keep it, find someone with time who wants a 4runner. You'll probably get $1500-$2000 for it. If you fix it up it'll be worth around $3000, I'm guessing.

Good luck finding the 3rd gen of your dreams :-)

Ask your buddy if he could do the work while you're gone if you send him the money for the parts. I'd do it for my buds. A 3rd gen is a nice vehicle, but I own both and I still like driving the '95 because it's such a solid vehicle. The 3rd gen seems to flex more and it gets cold weather squeaks although that 3.4 is a sweet engine.

Actually -

Aftermarket Fan Idler Housing - 125.00
Timing Belt - 30.00
OEM Upper Timing Idler - 70.00
OEM Lower Idler - 80.00
OEM Water Pump 75.00
Aftermarket Radiator 180.00

But then again 210K miles is a bunch of miles

700.00 for the fan idler housing is DAMN high...I'd look around for aftermarket parts...you can likely knock 500 bucks off your total right there. Timing belt, tensioners, and water pump are way high, too. Shouldn't be more than about $250.
