Unhappy My keyboard is on the frits, and I broke a birfield.

Ok good and bad news. My keyboard is on the frits, and I broke a birfield. But now I get to learn how to take the birf out and my square drive shaft is really strong. My keyboard will not type the letter a q or the space bar. I have to edit them all in.

wait a sec, you cant type them but are able to edit them in? um... sounds almsot software related then

as far as the birf, if you wheel hard, i say spend the $700 and get the birf eliminator kit i have seen one that uses a modified dana 44 u joint setup

Just get a new set of super longfeilds, alot less expensive than the Birf Eliminator Kit, and just as stong now with Bobby's new batch, lost of people are running 37"+ tires on these things and not breaking, or breaking less(due to heavy footed driving and 37" tires anything will break)

Yup, ditto on the longfields- also I think I read that you get reduced interference when fully turned compared to the u-joints.

Lightbulb 27 or 30 spline

My keyboard is bad because I spilled coffee on it. I think that I will get a new mouse too. Now I just need to decide whether to get the 27/30 spline birfeilds from bobby. I wheel hard and like the skinny pedal so things are going to brake. It just snapped so quickly. I think that it was already cracked or weakened from before.

more splines, more surface area to hold...thus stronger...everything else being equal.

i think the 27 spline cromo's are good for the wheeling us northwestern wheelers do, and besides, how many inner axles do you hear of breaking?, when i break my ringed longfields i will start saving up for the 27 spline birfs and inners, the 30 spline's are a little over kill for the stuff i do, but if you have the money for the 30 spline go for it

Ya I don’t have the money right now so it is down to 2wd or 3wd if needed. I will get some money from taxes and money others owe me. I will probably get the 30 as cheep insurance and rebuild the axel at the same time. I plan on taking it on few road trips to Utah and AZ too.
