My exhaust is done...

Well, I decided to fork over the 100 bones and had my exhaust welded up last Friday. I decided to go with the Magnaflow High-flow Cat and a Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler (WLK-17747). I did notice a power increase (which is really all I wanted). I've also noticed an increase in my gas mileage. However I haven't used a whole tank yet so I don't know how big of an increase. It really only has a sound around 2K rpms. Since I stay above 2K rpms most of the time I usually can't hear the exhaust. At idle it's fairly quite. Personally I don't like to hear exhaust on anything but a V8. Since this setup isn't very loud, I can live with it. Here's a few pics.

Now I don't have to see that ugly tailpipe anymore. Oh yeah, the muffler shop I went to stocked the Magnaflow High-flow cat. He said he charged $150 for it! I didn't pay anything near that.

Enjoy

Ah, the big question.

I did the whole exhaust for about $200. Talk about cheap, huh? The cat I bought off of this ebay company. It looks like they have raised their prices. I bought the cat for under $50 shipped.

The muffler I ordered off Summit Racing. It ran right about $50 shipped.

I prefer to do things on a budget instead of spur of the moment. It actually worked out pretty well though I wasn't expecting to pay that much to have it installed.

Is it necessary to get an aftermarket cat? Like is there a difference? The reason I am asking this, is because I may be replacing my muffler with a Dynomax and if I'm going to do that, I might as well go with with an aftermarket cat also. Just let me know. Thanks.

Yeah, it's not necessary to replace the cat. There's two reason's I did. One was because I want the most power I can get. The other is because I had a chirping noise coming from the front of the muffler. I wasn't sure if it was in the muffler or the cat. When I found the cat for that cheap, I decided to just go ahead and do it. I looked in my old cat for a sec after it was cut off and didn't see anything wrong with it.
