Are my end links gone? (pics)

So I tried to replace my end link bushings, but after taking the stock ones off, I think they rusted out quite a bit. It's a south NJ vehicle, mostly garage kept, not bad at all as far as rust everywhere else.

The rod measures 10mm at the exposed part, and 7.8mm at the thinnest point where the bushings were. So there is roughly only 60% left of what there was originally.

When the end links were new they were a straight bar 10mm diameter throughout?

I'm thinking of just cutting off the rusted part, putting a thread on it, a coupler, and a threaded bar on the other end of the coupler. For about $5

The ball joint is nice and tight, and the rubber boot is in great shape. It's just the rusted part

Not even worth the trouble. Get ones from waskillywabbit. Top notch product. Makes the stock ones look like popsicle sticks.

It seems like a design flaw, as there must be standing water inside the stock bushings when it rains. There is no other way to rust so much material away.

I could see them snapping in a hard turn in a few years time if I didn't replace them

But the solution is stainless steel. Total cost $6
