Angry My ECU took a crap...

That's what the repair shop said anyways. Not a fuel problem like I originally suspected. Going to cost $695 to get a junkyard ECU put in. Pretty gay, but whatever. I'm selling the damn 4Runner as soon as I get it back. I can't afford to keep running this damn thing.

$700 is pretty steep. Bet you can find an ECU for a lot cheaper and install it yourself. 3 or 4 wire plugs and 2 bolts - takes longer to get the kick panel off than to replace the computer.

I agree, always get a second Opinion. Like Mtnfreak said, it's real basic to "do it yourself".

What were the symptoms of your problem? I ask because my shop told me that my ECU was going bad (they gave me a line about the diodes in the ECU were starting to fail......yeah right). I was having injector issues, where there was power to the injectors but the ECU was not completing the circuit to allow the injectors to inject fuel at start up. The shop swapped ECU's and the problem still occurred. They then threw up their hands and gave me my truck back unfixed. I found the problem.....it was an engine ground that had worked itself loose. It was the ground on the back of the passenger side of the motor. I put the bolt back in and tightened it......fuel, injector, and starting problems are fixed.

If you are having similar problems....check that ground.
