I have an 02 4runner and everytime I get out the truck and then touch the door to close it it shocks the fire out of me. It only happens in the winter and I figured it was just because I wear wool and fleece in the winter. The wierd thing is that it also hapened on my 2nd generation 4runner. I drove a maxima all last winter and it never happened. It this just a 4runner/toyota thing? Anyone else have the happen to them?

The other strange thing that is probably by design but I just can't figure out why is the power window functions. when putting the window down you can push the button down past the click and it will roll all the way down. And the same with rolling it up. The strange thing is that if I have the window half way down, pull up on the button past the click it will roll all the way up and then roll back down to the same position it was in before. Why does it do this? I can't think of any reason why I would want to be able to roll the window up and then imediately back down. Anyone have a clue?

Try shutting the doors by touching only the window in the winter months.

The other problems is very odd and I have no idea what would cause that.

Any type of alarm on it, or HAS there been any type of alarm on it? If so, they may have messed with some wiring or something, not sure just a thought.

The shocking thing is just nature, I'm used to it now so it doesn't bother me but yeah, close it by the window trim and you'll be fine.

the window switch has an auto up/down feature. pushing/pulling 1/2 way allows for personal placement. if it comes back to a previous poisition it must be possesed and a exorcisim will be necessary to fix it.

The reason the window automatically goes back down might be the force sensor. If the window motor "feels" too much resistance, it will roll back down (so your fingers dont stay squished too long, hahaha).

The shock I get all the time during the winter. Closing it with the glass doesnt help though, I have tried that, and when I get to the door of wherever I am going, I get shocked there, lol.

When you take your keys out touch the ignition switch metal with your fingers while pulling the keys out, and that will ground you out before you exit. Still smarts, but will keep you from doing it on the door.

I get shocked so frigging much when getting out of my truck. I think when I slide down off the seat to the ground I get some static or something. Its annoying though.

There is no alarm other than the factory. It happens on both the passenger and driver side window. I do have the in channel vent visors which might make sense with the force sensor that was mentioned but it happened before I installed the vent visors as well. Right now I just rollit up manually instead of using the auto feature. It's annoying though.

Maybe since it happens when the windows arent all the way down, the window expects to go the full travel of the window. So since it only has to travel 1/2 way it thinks something is blocking the window and the safety feature kicks in? If you have the window all the way down and you click the auto up does it close ok?

I used to get shocked every time I got out of the car back in AZ.....the drier the air the more of a charge you'll build up on yourself (air can get very dry in the middle of winter too). I quickly learned to touch the door frame with my knuckle so the shock didn't hurt nearly as much.
