My buddies a knob
I have a friend with a 97 tacoma. He was jumping his girlfriends car and got the leads crossed. That blew an 80Amp fuse on her car and did unknown damage to his truck. He had the cable connected wrong before either vehicle was started. I'm trying to help him out because he's a teacher and a knob for crossing the jumpers. My question is where to start looking for issues. We check all the fuse and they look ok. the odb 2does not kick out any codes but the check engine light is ON. I'm thinking it's the solenoid on the starter or the other solenoid but I'm not sure. When you turn the key the lights in the cab come on but only a little click from the fuse box area. The car does not attempt to turn over.
thanks for any advice you may have. P.S. I have a multi-meter but could use the specs for the solenoids on the 97 Tacoma if anyone has them. I tried getting the FSM online but the link needs updating. I'm a decent shade tree mechanic with a modest bit of electrical experience.
