My battery got hooked up backwards!?! Help! Udated: problem fixed
My buddy needs a Darwin award for this one. I was running a small 12V pump from a marine battery yesterday, and when it died the logical solution was to pull my truck battery and finish the job. Well, it was getting dark pretty quick, and my buddy put my battery in backwards and it blew the 80amp fusible link. It didn't fry any wires or anything, I hope. Do you guys think the fusible link is the only thing wrong? I only had a minute to look at it last night, but it looks like the fusible link is held in with a bolt and nut?.? With the fusible link blown, does the truck have absolutely now power to anything? That's what my truck is doing. I could'nt even put my windows up last night. The funny thing was, with the battery hooked up backwards, the headlights worked. To top it all of, in the tow truck, my buddy turns to me and says, " I wondered why the negative cable didn't want to go on."..

most likely that is the problem... if the fusible link goes, then it jsut shuts down everything... dont see why the headlights would be wired seperately, but the fact they could still work seems logical, as a light doesnt know polarity....
