My '98 4Runner's fan won't shut off!
This started just a couple of months ago. The "off" position now acts exactly the same as the "low" position of the fan control knob. I can hear the fan running at the same speed regardless of which position the knob is in.
I'd guess it's the fan switch, which I assume is right behind the fan control knob in the dash, but...
How the heck do I get to the fan switch to check it and replace it? Do I have to take my dashboard apart?
Are their any good websites for steps, diagrams, etc.?
BTW... Toyota wants $70 just to look at it.
Thanks!
Todd

Hi Todd, and welcome to the forums.
In our Tech section are some articles on taking the dash apart which might be of help to you.
I thought I also read that the 3rd gens fan will still work in the off position if the climate control is set to defrost?
Or does that turn on the air-con too for a quicker way to rid the window of condensation?
Also SLC Punk's stereo install shows how to take apart part of the dash too by the heater.
