my 2001 4Runner ... finally something to show

I've had my 01 since November and have been acquiring parts here and there (mostly used here on YT). Finally have had a chance to get it together. Since November, I've added: TJM T17 bumper, Warn M8000 winch with synthetic line, Stubbs sliders, Tundra front coils/struts, OME 891 and N86 springs/shocks in rear, IPF 968 lights and 255/85/16 BFG MTs. Took it offroad today for the first time since installing the lift late last week - what a difference the Tundras/OME's make.

Anyway, here's a few pics:

i have a question about the bumper and the winch--is there a hole or something like that--that allows you to access the Free Spool clutch lever? Just curious

Thanks all ... I forgot to add pics of my drawer system. Raw wood in picture one, then herculined in pic 2.

Taller than a 285, slightly narrower than stock and for my kind of wheeling they are a better fit. This explains tall/narrow well:

The only rubbing I'm having with these is the bolt heads holding on the SR5 flares. Need to look into a smoother bolt head. I also need a set of Bamachem spacers to help level it out a bit more.

All in all thought, I am impressed with the ride of the Tundra/OME combo. I don't find the 891's too firm at all.

There is an access hole, but we had to cut part of the bumper to give better access to the lever. I've read of people extending the lever, but cutting the bumper was easier.

I also had to trim the stock grill a bit to fit the winch controller. At some point I'll probably do something like the Satoshi grill to help keep rocks and stuff from doing possible damage (plus it looks cool).

I am debating ordering some slider or making my own. Either way, would you opt for some with a rear "kick out" or just stick to the ones you have?

Been happy with the Stubbs sliders - well built, went on easily and seem quite sturdy. As far as the kickout, I'm not sure. I can see the benefits, but have no complaints about what I have.

I am thinking about 33" tires... but without regearing I am worried about low-end torque. Is yours manual or automatic? Any noticeable difference in pulling power?

I have an auto and have been pleasantly surprised at how little of a difference I've noticed with the larger tires. Gas mileage has dropped 1 to 1.5 mpg and I don't really notice much difference with acceleration. I do notice a difference with braking though. My speedo read fast before with 265/70/16s, and now reads slow with the 255/85/16s.

I also just added some spacers to even it out, looks MUCH better. Waiting to get on a trail to get some updated pics though.

Looks great. So how do you like the ride on the 255 on and off road, any mayor handling difference? You are one of the few I have seen going narrow (even though it should give better traction) rather than big and wide.

Yea, have to get Brembos to compensate for lost braking power... =)

Love them. Noisy, but what can you expect from an MT. Off road they are great - especially when aired down the combo of the tires, Tundra coils and OME rear makes for an awesome off-road ride with great flex.

As I said in a previous post, I just evened out the truck by adding spacers up front so need to take it out again. Hoping for this weekend. I'll update pics when I do.

Tall and skinny tires are great.

Eventually I'll do Tundra rotors and calipers ... One step at a time though.

So is the rubbing you experience while bouncing around offroad or just at full turn sitting on a road? I'm in Tucson too BTW, nice Runner!

Only offroad and in the rear since I added the spacers up front. Before the extra clearance up front, I'd get some rubbing at full lock and when turning into sloped driveways, etc ... Since the spacers up front no more rubbing. Not even at full lock. In the rear, I am still getting a bit of rubbing when the tire is stuffed - the tread is catching the bolt heads for the SR5 fender flares. Need to look into putting a smooth bolt head in.

The Tundra/OME 891 setup is awesome though. I'm not sure why people say the 891 is too stiff, I like them.

We'll have to hit a trail sometime. What rig do you have?
