multiple misfires
I have a 2001 tacoma with 3.4 v6, CEL came on last Saturday but truck was acting fine, started Monday morning on my way to work with missing bad, took to auto parts store had codes run with misfire at cylinder 6, got new NGK plug and changed it, still missing, took back and had codes run again, now with misfires at cylinder 3,5 and 6, just replaced plug wires and plugs a year and a half ago with OEM wires and NGK plugs any and all suggestions welcome before I have to take to mechanic due to unable to afford.

A friend of mine just went thru something like this and if I recall right it was a crank or camshaft sensor, I think it was a crankshaft sensor. That is just guessing but it would effect multiple cylinders. Might try clearing the codes and see what new codes come up. I am not sure on troubleshooting the 3.4 so someone else might be able to jump in and help.

thanks for the responses, just replaced crankshft position sensor 2-3 yrs ago and not quite acting the same as that, will try cleaning MAF, check fuel pressure and replace all plugs and wires and then check the coil packs, i am half way through tank of seafoam, noticed today that it seemed to run ok on first start until it warmed up, just puzzling how it went from misfire cylinder 6 changed the plug then it went to 3,5 and 6 misfire and just wanted to mention that i have noticed that it seems intermittent, it will run smooth and then rough idle, having to drive with overdrive off or it wont get above 45-50mph without really cutting up bad.

Update, changed spark plugs and wires today and the rubber of the boots had actually melted to the plugs and I think it was causing the spark to jump and cause misfires, truck seems to be running fine, sometimes it is simple crap that frustrates you the most
