Hey everyone.

I'm looking to add a little tone/power sound to my 4runner with of course adding a few horses.

I've searched my ass off, and I still haven't found what I'm looking for: I want a muffler that is louder than stock, sounds good, isn't droney on the highway.

I don't want it so loud that you can hear it a block away. Just a medium increase in noise.

My friend welds so I planned on just popping it in place of my old muffler with the same pipes. Considering the pipes are in good shape, that should be fine right?

FM 50. quieter than the 40, but should be deeper. And dont count on an increase in power. just an FYI Go to youtube and search for Tacoma muffler, etc. Good Luck!

18'' magnaflow great tone does drone a little nothing the stereo cant fix

Flowmaster 50 is pretty mellow with the stock tailpipe... nice rumble though.

The stock yota pipes are 2.25 right?

So should I buy the 2.5 or 2.25?

Yes, the 2.25 are stock.

Don't buy the 2.5 inlet/outlet unless you plan on using 2.5" pipe

I vote Magnaflow. I just got a dual setup with an 18" and a high-flow cat (makes it louder) and I love it. Super deep. Here are some pics and clips...

I think I'm gonna get a flowmaster 50 or 60 series.

whats the size of the stock muffler? Its raining and I dont feel like laying under my truck.

Magnaflow are much better. Flowmaster will only give you sound no increase in hp. Magnaflow are straight through design. If you get a longer magnaflow it will be relatively quiet until you romp on it. I have the TRD exhaust which I believe uses a borla muffler (same as magnaflow) with a small resinator near the end of the tailpipe and it sounds just right. Go TU ha

my dynomax super turbo is great. Suppossedly it adds more hp than a flowmaster, but who knows? However it offers an extremely low tone and it is very quiet when at idle... barely noticeable. However from about 1500-up RPM it has a extremely low tone that is somewhat noticeable. Its a great slightly loader than stock but extremly toned muffler. I work for a company that sells exhaust and I have tried a few different ones on a couple different cars and I like this one the best.

I'm between the Flow 50 and the Dynomax Super...

Did you notice a loss of power or torque on the low end? I understand with the straight through design you gain some horses on the mid to high end but lose some on low end.

Id say Magnaflow again. FM won't help you HP and torque near as much as a Magnaflow would, and Magnaflow is IMO better quality than Dynomax.

I think I like Magnaflow better than Flowmaster, there's just something about the sound.

Same here. Flowmasters are chambered so they have that bubbly sound.

My friend has a Grand Cherokee with the 4.7 with a Flowmaster 50, his sounds like a bubble.

I was gonna go with the Magnaflow #12286 which has a 2.5 inlet/outlet and I was going to use my stock piping which is obviously 2.25....is this going to be a problem? A mechanic at a local muffler shop said that its not that big of a deal, so what's the verdict, thanks.

The stock piping is actually 2 3/8". The muffler shop can take the 2.25" muffler and swell the ends of it to fit. Get the 2.25" or 2.5" one. It really doesnt matter.

x2 dynamax super turbo. I ran one on my old tacoma 3.4 and will probably put one on the 4runner soon.

The dynamax is rather quiet with a mellow but noticable tone. Sounds like an exhaust should, not like the fart cans on alot of the fast and the furious imports running around.
