motors bolting up to toy tranny

Is there any motor swaps that will bolt up to a 2nd gen auto tranny? Maybe by means of advance adapters?? Before I go out and spend a buttload on a 3.0 I wanna consider my options.

Downey has a kit to mate it to the 4.3 and 5.7 I beleive...definately the 4.3 though.

I think some have bolted up a 3.4 engine without any adapters, but the transmission is driven by the ECU and the ECU also drives the engine so there may be a compatibility issue.

Try a search under user name "TeamShiftpoint", I think he has mated the 3.4 engine to the 3.0 auto tranny with good results.

Hmmm....haven't saw anything on the downey site that adapts the toy tranny to the 4.3. Lets start here....how do I identify my tranny in it now? Get the dumb questions out of the way first...

Found a complete 2003 4.3 vortec with ecu and 4l60E tranny for $1,400 with 23,000 miles on it. Only thing is the tranny is from a 2wd. Would this give me any problems? I noticed downey sells a kit for $658.
