Question "Missing bolt"

Couple of weeks ago I noticed that I do not have (missing) a bolt that would attaché exhaust system to a piece of (threaded) metal that is attached to transmission. This bolt would go through a flange where header attaches to rest of the exhaust system. So I got a bolt and put it there. And since that time I have a slight vibration when truck is in gear and I am standing at a traffic light. (I have 1996 4Runner 4x4 3.4 L Auto)
Any one can tell me if this bolt needs to be there?
Thank you!!
Here is a picture of the cat so you can see the flange there.

I would imagine if theres a hole for a bolt, it SHOULD be there... just my guess. In my old '88 PU my muffler would rattle like hell when idling. I fixed it by using clothes hangars and wrapping it around pulling it tight to the chassis, worked like a charm. But as for your situation, i'm guessing you should replace that bolt for performance reasons. that's my 2 cents :]

One sure way to find out, get a bolt that fits, put it in and see if the vibration goes away.

Find a 96 runner like yours and take a peek at how it is set up. (with the owners permission of course)
Not too many situations that have a place for a bolt, that there shouldn't be one.
If you are getting a new vibration, you better get it checked out.
(vibrations baaad)
Good luck! keep us posted!

Thanks to all for response!
And I will try to find a 4 Runner to see how it is setup.
But It would be great if somebody with 3.4 L can take a look and let me know if they see this bolt in or out!!!
Thank s again!
