Mirror/Door Skin question
I went to pick up a replacement driver door for my 89 Truck this weekend and when I got to the vendor, the door looked almost the same, except it had 2 holes in the door for mirror placement. My mirrors are mounted to the corner by the window, not on the door.
After looking around at various trucks on the forum, I have seen a few examples of both. My question is was this a difference in packages from the factory? Or something that changed over a production year? Since the trucks are the same body style, I am trying to figure out why they are different.
My truck with mirror on window:
A different truck with mirror on the door:
Anyone explain the difference? Thanks.

Yep, notice the wing windows. Standard vs Deluxe v Sr5. I *believe* only the SR5s have the mirror in the 'corner.'

I ended up buying this replacement door and drove to pick it up, even though it wasn't quite the same. I imagine I can just fill in the holes and paint over them? The mirror should still mount in the corner correctly I hope.

Even back in 84-85 the SR5s had no wing windows, but the mirrors still mounted on the doors. (No power mirror option till 86)

here's yer answer
The wing mirror was used on the base models of both the 4x4 & 4x2 the chrome corner mirror was used on the DLX and SR5 models ynless you spec'd out the no-draft front window then you got a chrome version of the wing mirror (i believe this was not an available option for the SR5). Hope this helps Cheers Aviator
