minor electrical problem maybe

not sure what the proper name is, but the lights beside the headlights on my 92 pickup are on when the truck is running and i don't think i've ever noticed them on before except for when i (dis)arm my alarm. are they always on and i just never noticed it or is something awry?

it sounds like you parking lights are on whenever the engine is running? doesnt sound right as that would be a condition of daytime running lights, but those use the headlights and were probably not equipped on your year truck... they should only be on if the headlight switch is turned to the first position, with the second position being the headlights on.....

I know my taillights go on with the DRLs, but I've never really looked whether the front ones are on or not. Mines a 93 so it should be much the same as yours. I'll take a look when I get a spare minute at work.

Edit: Well I had a look at lunch and it didn't help much, neither of those lights on my truck work at all

The answer is yes , at least on my 93 it is. I changed the 2 dead bulbs and those lights are now on with the DRLs.
Sorry, forgot to let you know earlier.

Welcome to the Federally mandated Canadian DRLs. My running lights up by the headlights and the tail lights come on. Drives me crazy but what can I do?

It may be the problem when you remove your alarm...since the alarm usually hooks to the the side marker lights...check the wires in the areas where the alarm used to be.

good luck,

Nam
