Exclamation Mileage and the 7th Injector

So, what do you think? Increased mileage with the 7th injector or decreased?

*Disclaimer: My speedometer is off quite a bit, so the following numbers are for comparison only and should not be used to even guess at actual mileage numbers. That is unless you want to do the math to figure out how much my speedometer is actually off and how much it affected these numbers. I had 265/75R16's stock, now I am running 35x12.5R15's. When my speedometer shows 60, I am really doing a reliable 67-68 by the GPS. The speedometer seemed to be the closest to correct when I had small 32's on the truck. Stock it was a bit high, 32's it was close, 33's a bit low, etc.

On to the tale...

I had a full tank when I installed the injector kit and that first tank scared me. I have 15.5 gallons in the aux tank and the stock 18 in the main tank and usually got around 350 miles of mostly city driving before the injector install. On a long highway trip, I could see just over 400 miles. (remember the funky numbers) After the install of the injector, the first load of fuel, about 31.5 gallons (15.5 aux + 16 main to the idiot light), the truck was dry after just over 200 miles ;(

The second and third tanks showed improvement from that mark, as did the fourth which got me back close to the pre-install numbers. I just emptied the fifth load of fuel with 414 miles showing on the trip meter and that was with just over an eighth showing on the gauge, instead my running it down to the idiot light like I usually do. That mileage was my normal crawling, rush hour commutes, with very little really highway driving. So, that means I am now getting better mileage than I was before the install...

Sorry for the unscientific nature of the testing... I am too freaking lazy to do careful documentation or to get my speedometer put back on track, hell, I know how fast I am going! But I thought the news might be useful for comparisons sake...

It sounds like your ECU was learning how to play nice with the 7th injector. Cool!

Did you notice the extra 40 horses it's supposed to give?

I've ridden in Rob's truck before and after the 7th injector install. The short form - yes, you can definitely feel the power. I babbled a bit more over here:

As to the _amount_ of horsepower, I can't give a quantitative number, but one thing that comes up in that other thread is that Toyota's claim of added horsepower may be at the crank versus the wheels.

There is a definate, noticeable increase in power, as well as smoother acceleration and a distinct lack of pinging.

It's been a while since I had my butt dyno calibrated, so I can't give you accurate numbers, but it was a very distinct change.
