I would like to mount some lights on a section of metal tube that doesn't have any tabs welded on to it. Should I just go and find someone who will do that or are there any suggestions that are almost as stable and solid?

I kind of have the feeling that there really isn't but I figured I'd try anyway

I used these straps to mount my license plate. They might be too flimsy to mount lights, but if you pick the right size they hang on very well.

You could also use the ARB tube mounts that many folks use to mount their CB to the ARB before they started putting the tabs on the ARB.

How big is the tubing?
If around the size of a Yakima cross bar, you can use the Yakima Snap Arounds.



The hole for the bolt and plastic wingnut you can use for the light stud instead.
I test fitted a Hella 500 on my cross bar years ago before getting the Yakima Load Warrior light mount plates instead.

The width is about grille guard size, I dunno - 1.5"? That looks like it would be good but you have to slide it on via an open length, right?

I don't personally have one as my ARB already had the new tabs, but I've seen several in person (don't remember who had them) and they look more than adequate to do the job if they'll hold on an antenna at high speed then I would think a light woudl be no problem. You could always put a small piece of rubber in there so it wouldn't slip.

I think both Corey and midiwall (Mark) use these for their CB antennas, so you might ask around for some other input, but I think they'd work fine from what I've seen of them.

Nope, that is why they are called "Snap Arounds."
They open up so they can fit a Yakima round bar or a Thule square bar.

Open up, snap or slide on over the tubing.
