Maybe my new used Runner
Well, after the cobwebs cleared from my my roll over last night, I went shopping.
Here's what I found:
http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/htt...20406068HedDaE
It's a '95, 5 spd, 4wd, loaded, including moon roof. I'm not wild about the running boards, or the colour, but it has a new motor (another 3.0 ) and fresh tires and paint. The GF LOVES it, which is good, because she runs the money in this house (and THAT'S good too ). We looked at 15 different runners today, and this was not only the most expensive, but also the lowest in mileage (95k). It's going for $8000 CDN or about $6000 US. No mods, but I'm hoping the adjuster lets me grab some stuff from my roller, like the hubs, rear tire carrier and some other stuff I've added over the last couple of months.
I'll miss the red '91, and probably have trouble finding this one in a crowded lot, but I figure the colour will hide the trail dust
Let me know what you folks think...am I still suffering from dizziness, or does this rig have potential?
Again, thanks to all who replied with good thoughts re my rollover. That's just one of the things I really enjoy about Yotatech...nice folks!

I say snatch it up!
Considering I paid $9500CDN for mine with 180,000kms and it's 4 years older than that one, and I thought I got a pretty sweet deal, I'd be jumping all over that truck.
Buy that one and I'll trade you

4X4Lamm, I'm a little more partial to YOUR colour, but I couldn't find a nice one in that colour with less than 200,000 kms on it.
You can't believe some of the junk I saw today...one of them was bone dry in the coolant resevoir, and couldn't see anything in the rad, either. The used car guy told me "They ALL run like that" I was gonna iclude "When they've blown a head gasket, sure".

Go for it! Over a year ago, I sold my 1992 4Runner SR5 4WD, 4 cylinder, 5spd, no power options other than the steering and brakes, and also had AC. I sold it for $8000 with over 200,000km. It had rust on both the rear fenders and rear carg door. Go for it, its a unique colour.

Looks like a good truck from the picture. The only thing I would note... it has BFG ATs, great tires, for sure, but a sign of one of two things:
1) Good option: previous owner was an enthusiast. This means it might have been well-maintained.
2) not-as-good option: previous owner used it off road. While this is not necessarily bad, there could be some damage underneath, so look very closely. I'm searching for a 4Runner, too, and I pretty much avoid the ones I find with dented skidplates.
Good luck!

Very, very nice, especially since GF likes. If you can get a verified Carfax-type certification for condition (no wrecks, flood, salvage, fleet) and mileage, I say buy low today. It would be a plus to track down the previous owner to ask about it's history.
Off topic, but about your avatar. Is that a flying milk stool, er, I mean Tri-Pacer?

It looks and sounds pretty much like my '95 Limited, which is still giving me good service with 202K despite some uncharacteristic ticks in the the engine. Check out the plastic cladding that is part of the running board package in front of the the rear tire well. Other guys have had gunk build up in there and start rusting. I saw a 2nd gen the other day that was pretty much eaten up by rust. It had Colorado plates. Personally, I would rather spend the money on a plane ticket and buy cars from CA, AZ, Southern NM & TX cars. 30-50 year old cars are driving around with little or no rust.

Those running boards were the first thing I ripped off and then I repaired the rust that had started under the plastic wheel guards.

As for the BFG's I'm pretty sure the dealer has just put them on there. This runner looks like 'off-road' means into the driveway. And those running boards will be the first thing I take a wrench to!

But back on topic, it is a nice looking 4Runner.

There's a older metallic blue 1988 V6 4 runner in pretty good shape rust wize down the road from me the sign says $1500. Just incase you are interested. It looks like there are some engine leaks but overall it looks in fairly good shape.

Now, if someone south of the border knew of one that was in certified, excellent condition it might be worth the trip, I'd probably hit it up.
Otherwise, I looked at 15 yesterday and I'm out to look at at least another 10, today. The problem I'm finding is that most the ones I've seen are pretty much beat...rust, oil leaks, etc....
I did find one I really like, (see above) and finances all say "go for it" , I'm just not 'sold' on it yet. But everyone here who has looked at the pic seem to agree. So, that will probably be the one. I'm just waiting for the car rental place to deiver my '04 Highlander rental, so I can go look some more!
