Manual Tranny: Slipping in 3rd and 4th????
Have any of you guys with a manual tranny experienced slipping when shifting from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th from medium to heavy throttle? In case that confused you, when I am trying to push my truck, generally up a hill, when I shift to third, I let the clutch out and the engine keeps revving about where I had it in the gear before, then when I back off the throttle it drops to where it should be, otherwise it takes 2 or so seconds to drop down. It only happens going to 3rd and 4th and my friend is complaining of the same in his 92. Who's had this happen, and what was wrong? Is it the clutch, tranny, or engine timing, as he was told by his mechanic friend? Thanks!

Mine did that to me last year. It was the clutch. I replaced mine in my garage w/ my dad, it was a pain. A tranny jack would have saved a couple hours. Not too hard but a lot of work. Good luck.
