Manifold Leak Being Fixed
I don't know if you remember me posting about my manifold leak...but...I have finally decided to shell out the 200+ bucks and get it fixed.
They said it would cost about 200 to R&R and then 72.55 for a new gasket and 50 bucks (one hour of labor) for every broken bolt.
My question, if the manifold is cracked...what will they do? If it is loose, will they simply just tighten down all the nuts and buts and such. Also, if they can't find a new manifold would there be a way to fix it...patch it up or something? The reason I suddenly shelled out the cash is the smell was getting worse day by day...rotten egg smell was trailing behind me.
I'm hoping they can atleast look at it tomorrow and see whether it is cracked or just loose and how many broken bolts there are in there. I'm going to call them tomorrow afternoon and see what they found...hopefully SOMETHING.
Anyway, what would you expect something like this to cost? What about a new one? Used?
The reason I'm asking is to see how much this is really going to hit my bank account...
Thanks in advance,
Fink

OK nOOb question!
What would new headers do?
I really need a good explanation of the basic parts of an engine and what they do and just an overall explanation of all the various things that go on to make the car work.
Wow...I am SUCH a nOOb!

Well...got the rig back and it sounds GREAT!!
And I'm only $71.98 poorer...
It turns out the manifold itself was fine, it was just the O-Ring/Gasket between the exhaust and engine...$4.98 for that and 60 bucks for labor and there you have it! It sounds SOOOOOO much better...I can't even hear the engine inside the cab anymore...I used to feel like I was sitting on top of it when accelerating!
Next thing is I'm taking it to the dealer either tomorrow or Monday to have my EVER so annoying starting problem looked at by the stealership.
Hopefully its nothing serious, at the worst it might be the CSI (cold start injector) and that may need to be replaced. How much does that cost again? Corey said how much it was...can't remember off the top of my head. Mid 100 I thought...anyway. I'm hoping that is the worst case scenario for that problem anyway. After that, getting my injectors ultra-sound cleaned is the next actual MAINTENANCE thing that needs to be done. And then...FLOWMASTER EXHAUST BABY!!! OH YEAH!
Anyway...just thought I would update you on the rig...
