If I where to turn the gear on the MAF clockwise no more than 3 notchs, to lean the mixture some, would it help with acceleration? Would it be dangerous? Thanks.

Why would you want to lean it?
I dont think I would unless you could put it on a sniffer (exhaust analyzer).
From my understanding the adjustment only takes effect at freeway speeds.
I would think youd want to run a bit richer (more fuel) since youre getting more air than stock with the intake set up the way you have it.

I have mine set at 4 teeth,but Im running a performance head and cam with a bored throttle body.

I'd say unless you are really running rich for some reason, don't mess with it.
Leaner = hotter = engine damage
Unless you have really modded the engine/intake for greater flow it isn't something to mess with IMO. Even then, you would want to increase the mix, not lean it out.
Even if you do with big mods, I would suggest modifying the engine management (ECU) instead of messing with the MAF. The trick of messing with the MAF makes for a change from the baseline up from what I understand and in my experience all it really accomplishes is making the engine run rich constantly. In theory, something like a jetchip upgrade can be designed so the fuel curve actually matches needs and not just ballparks it. At $2+ per gallon the jetchip type mod probably pays for itself reasonably quickly.

Thats what I figured. I just read on some celica page than making the mixture a little bit leaner helps with off the line acceleration while richer helps with the top speed.
