Maintenance questions for 1997 2.7 Tacoma

I'm finally getting to the end of the 5K, 15K 30K & 60K maintenance check lists for the 1997 2.7 4WD w/A.D.D. Xtra Cab Tacoma with 131K miles I just bought. I've ordered the parts for the major work (new exhaust manifold, shocks, inner CV boots) but I'm wrapping up all the regular maintenance while I wait for the parts. I have some questions about 3 items.

1) What do I look for when I inspect the charcoal canister, and what is the best way to run this inspection?

2) "Inspect drive shaft boots (re-torque flange bolts)" I'd appreciate a diagram or picture of this, so I know exactly what I am to re-torque, along with torque specifications on these bolts.

3) I want to make sure I understand re-torquing the propeller shaft. I assume we're talking about the 4 bolts on either end of the shafts and they need to be torqued to 54 ft-lbf. Is that accurate?

I went under the truck and torqued the nuts/bolts. All but two were already torqued properly. I assume the difference in terminology in the FSM isn't really significant. Am I correct in believing the only bolts to torque are the 8 flange bolts on the main shaft and 8 flange bolts on the front 4WD shaft? These are 14mm bolts, and I torqued them to 54 ft-lbf. Is it also recommended to torque the 4 bolts at the center support bearing? To do that, one needs a 14mm torque adapter, as there is no room to get a socket in there http://www.ebay.com/itm/14mm-Torque-Adapter-Wrench-Motorcycle-Tool-12-pt-3-8-Drive-Life-Time-Warranty-/181509793840?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a42d3a830&vxp=mtr.

Please confirm I have already answered my second two questions. I'd still like to know how to inspect the charcoal canister.

About all you can do with the charcoal cannister is look and see whether it's is cracked, or swelled, and maybe blow thru its hose barbs. (Blow with mouth-not compressor) It's probably OK.

Everything looks good. I didn't know if I had to take it apart or check to see if there was any liquid inside or some other type of test to make sure one way valves are working properly or something else. Thanks for the feedback.
