Yes, you can do this. The installer will use a 2.25 to 2.5" adapter. Expect 2 - 5HP, but that's just a guess.

Yes, you can use the stock piping...but to get full benefit of the sound, you may want to upgrade your piping too. I put a Flowmaster on my old 2nd gen with the stock 2.25" piping and I didnt really like how it sounded, but then I went back and had them put new piping on, mainly because the old pipes were pretty rusted and it sounded 10x better. Not sure how true this is on a Magnaflow but I would guess it would be the same.
Let us know how you like it! And get a sound clip if you can, we're always looking for sound clips of mufflers on different rigs. Fink

Good luck getting a 10hp jump without doing a complete exhaust system and even then I'm not sure you'd get much unless you combined it with headers or something else.
Either way, just spend the money on the muffler and the install charge and it will be worth it right there...it will sound SO much better! Fink

It's legal if it does not exceed the db stipulations. And I can almost gaurantee you will be too loud with a pipe instead of the muffler.

I don't think anyone has a sound clip, but let me tell you something, it will be obnoxiously loud. It will resonate something fierce on long trips, and you will have friends begging to drive instead of you. If you want loud and cheap, get an 18" glasspack like me. You can hear it on Corey's sight. Just look up Corey in the members list.

Christian is right, that would be a much better alternative than having no muffler...you'll be waking up neighbors all over the place, and not with a good sounding exhaust...a loud, obnoxious sounding exhaust. I would recommend either the Magnaflow or the glasspack.

I had a 40 series on my 2nd gen and I liked it OK, you could only really tell I had a Flow at around 2k rpms...but that might be a totally different story on a 3rd gen.
