Lowering Spare Tire with Body lift...

I have a 1" RB body lift on my 3rd gen 4Runner and now I am unable to lower my spare tire! The crank won't go into the spot to lower the tire down.
How do I fix this? Help please...

take the bumper off.....see if it goes in then. and be sure to put some lubricant on it, cause it can be hard to turn.

the mechanism could be turned from underneath if you could get something with a large flat tip that is kinda short......might be hard to turn tho. the jack handle gives you a much better grip.

Yeah, pull up the plastic bumper part- you should be able to feed the rod through that gap into the lowering hole.

put the rod int he hole, tap on the handle w/ the tire iron and it will slip right in. just yank it and it will come right out. very easy w/ no modifications needed and no pulling plastic.

You can do one of two things:
  1. Remove the rear bumper valance (plastic cover) to access the spare tire carrier.

    OR

  2. Change the angle of the rear tire carrier.
EDIT:Here's a link to a thread I posted awhile ago on how to change the carrier angle.

EDIT²:The link (and text) in Roger's instructions reference the thread posted above.
