Low Fuel Warning Light - How much in tank?
For those with a 3rd Gen V6, how many gallons of fuel do you have left when your light comes on? I think I recall the one previous time my light came on, I immediately refueled and still had about 2 gallons. This morning my light came on and of the only 2 gas stations on my ride to work, one was out of gas (WHY is THAT? Not an omen of things to come, I hope...) and the other was closed due to last nights' storms. Needless to say, I've driven 25 miles since the light came on and have another 5 to get back to the first station.

Well...doing the math on mine:
When the light comes on and I fill up. I end up putting in just over 16 gallons. That tells me that I have 2 gallons left since the tank holds just over 18 gallons...

About 2 gallons is what I left in the tank also. I start getting real nervous when it comes on though. I'm not sure what the 'useable' fuel is though. How much is left in the tank when the engines dies?

Sounds like you need the fuel gauge TSP(Toyota Service Bulletin)repair. Do a search and you'll see what I'm talking about. It effected 99-00 Runners.

I made it to the gas station...
The verdict:
I had driven about 30 miles from the time the light came on and then put 17 gallons in an 18 gallon tank. Since I'm getting about 19-20 mpg, I used 1 1/2 gallons from the time the light came on. So 2 1/2 gallons is my "cushion" (not that I typically let my fuel get that low...) when the light triggers.
Thanks for the responses!
