Loss of power

So I've had my new junkyard engine in for a couple of weeks and now all of the sudden I have no power. I have to be a full throttle to maintain 70 in 5th on the highway (@3000rpm). What should I check? It idles fine just no power.

Did you replace the timing belt?

Yes I replaced the timing belt. Or rather my mechanic did, and we reset the timing to the specs given.

No stuttering its just no pull when I press down on the throttle. From idle it takes forever to get up to any speed at all.

After driving home from work I noticed a lot more stuttering, guess its just one of those things it takes some to mention to notice.

Check plug wires, clean air filter. Could be bad gas too (though that's unlikely).

plug wires are good, air filter is only 2,000 miles old. All was fine up until about a week ago.

Should have clarified, I mean make sure the plug wires are securely connected at both ends. A loose wire will cause power loss and rough running.

Also make sure you don't have a loose vacuum line in there somewhere, that'd do it.

So check plug wires and hoses all are good. Just to test something on teh freeway to work today I put it into cruise and it wouldn't hold speed. It just slowly dropped, any idea what this means? Bad tps? Something else?

Sounds like bad vacuum, that's what holds the cruise control on speed.

I figured it be something else since I'm having problems accelerating to begin with. Figured what ever is keeping me slow is hurting the cruise control, but I'll check that out.
