losing power

i have a 96 sr5 runner with 121k miles and it seems that it just doesnt seem to have the power it used to have. i have done numerous services and it just doenst seem to get any better, as well as the gas mileage. i have done spark plugs, timing belt and water pump, tranny and diff fluids, oil and filter, front brakes, Air filter, cleaned throttle body, attemted to clean MAF but mine is the wierd jet looking one. all this has been done in the past 2-5k miles. the only other things i can think of could be my exhaust such as a new cat and or o2 sensor, or somebody had told me that the rear brakes can be hung up and dragging (i dont think its this though), or possibly a injector cleaning with some sea foam(which im afraid to use, dont want to foul my brand new plugs).

From what you are saying i would have to go with the cat--been there before--slow death with possible overheating. Good luck.

Oh Yeah--i think i have the same MAF as you--used a can of Electronics cleaner with the little red plastic hose attached, bright light and attempted to clean what looked like the hot wire. Dont know whether it helped or not but if you take your MAF off and shine a light on the nose of the jet looking part you can see a wire down there. I am not sure whether that is the hot wire or not--but i cleaned mine and there havent been any ill effects. Anyways good luck.

If your O2 is original, that would be a prime replacement item at that mileage (I am referring to the front sensor for replacement). The MAF on ours is tougher to clean so do your best. A new cat might help but I'd have a muffler shop check the pressure drop (indicates if it is plugged or not and causing any restriction) across the one you have, no sense in replacing a good one.
