Look what the UPS guy brought me!
My Warn Recovery shackle that i bought from www.central4wd.com for 50 bucks shipped
here it is, being compared to, of course, a 19 oz box of mini wheats
in my truck
I plan to paint it just like Corey's... black body part, red ring

yea I wish I would have ordered one of those before our huge trip this weekend. Oh well. All those do is just make it easier and more convinient to tow your rig out of wherever you're stuck right? If I don't have it, I can just put the strap on my hitch?

Looks good.
A lot of people will tell you that you don't need one, and to just put the recovery strap through the hitch, and secure it with a pin.
I tend to be overly cautious on this type of thing, and I think the pin only method puts more stress on it.
Sure, you are still using the pin when you have the recovery bar and shackle on there, but the metal holes on the shank distribute the stress out more than if you were just yanking against the pin and strap in the receiver.
I'd rather spend a few bucks more like this and play on the cautious side.
Mr. Murphy is always lurking around, and I don't like him to get the better one on me.
Mine's all chipped up from rocks flying up, even with clear coat.
Time to repaint it, then put the Porter Cable on it

When I get mine I think it'll be a debate between leaving it on OR using it when I need it an in the meantime keep my Superman plug on
