Locks not working........

So, I replaced my tailgate on my 2000 4runner limited 4x4 and now the keyless isn't working. The power locks only work when the key is in the on position. I completely moved the wiring harness to the new tailgate and moved the relay (orange box) to the new tailgate. Any ideas as to what the problem is???

check all your grounds/fuses. sounds like you forgot to hook something back up when you swapped harnesses. You might find a wiring diagram in the FSM link in my signature

That's what i originally thought but the power window works and the locks work in the on position. None of the locks work with out the key in the on position. Whether or not the tailgate is even hooked up.

was the new tailgate also from a 2000 or another model year? I believe there are slight differences in the internal module.

It was from a 1996, I checked the wire colors and they all seemed to match up.

maybe search for the procedure on how to program the keyless remote and try to reprogram the remote to the vehicle. worth a shot, and its free.

Oh wait, that's for a '98. I think yours has a 3 button remote.

The only problem with that is that the power locks have to wok properly first.

Hmmm. I wonder if the wiring is different because the '96 doesn't have the remote rear window? That is if that's what your '00 had.

It is probably the fues in the engine bay.

I had the same problem, key on, locks worked, key off, not pwr locks there, no rear window, checked fuses under the hood. replaced on, now locks work.

now if I could just figure out what is preventing the rear tailgate switch to operate the window, or pwr lock, and dome light? Does that orange box control things like the power window in the door when using the key from the back.

Check your APX/b fuse. And make sure you plugged that orange box in correctly

That orange box is the receiver for keyless, Controls the rear light. and the window. It does pretty much everything for the rear end.
