Lifting my runner?
Does anyone know of a way to cheaply lift my 1990 SR5 Automatic 4Runner? Solid axle is cheap to lift i know but a solid axle conversion probably is ALOT... So how do i cheaply lift my IFS ? I went to bayview 4x4 they said body lifts arent available for automatic trannys well what about suspension .. their suspension lifts where $1200 then a grand total of $2000 with install thats for 4" I know suspension lift kits come with extra stuff like shocks etc which I already have. Basicly I need to know seperate parts to order to lift my front end I dont want a kit. And as far as bigger springs I heard I can use big springs from a wrecking yard.. so yeah please help ...

roger brown sells an adapter for automatics so you can do a body lift. Other than that there are ball joint spacers for the front. OME or landcruiser springs for the rear. Send a message to strap22, he works for toyota of dallas. Their website trdparts4u sells complete lift kits, I think you can get 3" for about 600

i got some OME coils for the rear of mine and gained about 3-4" from stock in the rear after measuring my bumper. Am saving for bj spacers for the front and maybe a 1" bl to clear 33's good. its doable around the range of $300-400.

are BJ spacers safe or are they just as safe as a lift kit you would get from anywhere else... or is it tippyer then buying a $2000 lift kit... isnt the $2000 just becuase its brand name and gives you things you already have but just their brand

i know this guy that runs around here with a 4" lift and it looks really no different than your average lift consisting of bj spacers and coils. i have never heard any negatives about bj spacers being hazardous besides for the extra travel it gives ya up front and without proper bump stops then ya can screw up cv's. the way i see it the higher ya get it the center of gravity is off and 4" vs 1.5" and bigger tires....it would be more stable with less lift. roger is the expert in this area...guy is tremendous. and yeh...talk to strap22 about their setups...and look at his avatar and you make the decision.
